2008 Spring Fellowship

Spring Fellowship this year took place on March 14-16, 2008. Instead of the usual service projects, seminars were implemented this to give a little spice to fellowship. In simplest terms, the fellowship can be described as fun. Friday night featured movies and board games in which people stayed up all night. Come Saturday the focus was fixed on the various seminars. In total there were three seminars and each member could attend each one. Besides the different classes, some adults worked on the multipurpose building/OA hut down by the lake. To round out the morning, there were also ceremony tryouts. The classes were as followed:
-Jason Spangler teaching patches 101
-Randy Deaton, Van Ervin, and Doug Carter teaching backpacking, leave no trace, and water activities
-Ophelia Deese and Ashely Fogleman teaching various Native American crafts, in particular chokers

The afternoon was filled with plenty of events simulating Dixie such as canoeing, fire building, knot tying, a tent pitch, and a chariot race. Everyone got involved and it was a great time. There were no Ordeal flaps sold at the lodge store which opened after the events were completed. After dinner the Lodge Business Meeting occurred. There was a proposed flap change by Steven Lastauskas that was rejected. No other significant news came out of the business meeting. After the business meeting the majority of the night was spent on the patch auction. Over $900 was raised and donated to the Council’s Camper Fund to give assistance to those needing it to attend summer camp.
The remainder of the evening was filled up by a cracker barrel, more board games, and patch trading. The weekend had over 75 in attendance and there is nothing more to do other than look forward to Dixie Fellowship. There are many registered and with a Beach Theme in hand, Santee hopes to seize the Spirit Award and more! Remember summer camp is coming up and urge your troop to attend Camp Coker. OA Week and Summer Fellowship follow shortly after summer camp. Be sure to check out the upcoming events box to the left and begin to register for OA Week and Summer Fellowship in late April, see you there!
