Lodge History

Santee Lodge has a history rich in tradition and excellence. Santee Lodge itself has over 300 active members. The lodge, established in 1938, is enjoying its 72nd year and is part of the Southern Region Section 5, which consists of the following Lodges:

Bobwhite #87, Santee #116, Tomo Chi-Chi Lodge #119, Tsali #134, Atta Kulla Kulla #185, Itibapishe Iti Hollo #188, Muscogee #221, Unali'yi #236, Skyuka #270, Catawba #459, and Eswau Huppeday #560.

All totaled, the Section includes five lodges in South Carolina, one lodge in Georgia, one lodge in both Georgia and South Carolina, and four in North Carolina.

Santee Lodge has developed a strong tradition and reputation for excellence since its founding in 1938. Our lodge has long been a leader in the Section, including winning Section Lodge of the Year in 1994, 1995, 1996, and 1997. In 1995, Santee Lodge was awarded the E. Urner Goodman Camping Award, one of only eight lodges nationally to receive the award that year. In 2005, Santee was awarded the National Service Award, for outstanding service to the council and Pee Dee Area.
