Fall Fellowship took place on October
19-21. The weekend was full of plenty of fellowship, service
to camp, vigil honor recognition, and chapter competitions.
There were 24 ordeals, 17 brotherhoods, and 70 others who attended
Fall Fellowship. With attendance up from Summer Fellowship,
the ceremony team was busy and all the brothers were busy giving
service to camp.
There were three main service projects that included work on the
ceremonial rings, an improved pathway around the east side showers
as shown above, and pictured to the right, a totally new start of
rebuilding the pathway along the lake front. Brother Steve
Deese and Sam McLellan were also part of the news this weekend by
successfully earning their vigil. As far as the chapter competitions,
Chicora Chapter dominated in every chapter event over the weekend.
They swept each competition with ease when it came to volleyball
and ping-pong. The basketball competition came down to the
last goal and Chicora completed the triple crown of winning all
the competitions.
After ceremonies, the night was completed with an unusually heated
business meeting for the first time in awhile. The lodge flap
was voted to sell out by the current method as there was a mandate
issued by national to eliminate all honor flaps. The real
excitement came when different patch ideas were presented for the
upcoming year. The debate on a yearly set for the 70th anniversary
and a single patch carried on for over 30 minutes. The single
patch idea won.
The weekend ended with hope towards even greater improvements in
attendance and a push for better administrative updates. Be
sure to get registered for winter banquet as we honor members of
our lodge and people outside of the lodge who have greatly enhanced
the scouting program. Remember to check the website and be
sure to sign up for the new email blast. |
